Porto, 9 November 1993

The Mayor of Porto has asked the competition to come. Portugal, the country on our South west coast wants to be identified as a part of Europe. The political dimension of the competition is becoming increasingly important. Arte broadcasts a special programme on PRIX EUROPA 1993 and the 187 programmes entered to the by then 3 competition categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Serials.

Jurors selected as Television Programme of the Year 1993 the British mini-series "Lipstick on your collar“ by Dennis Potter, subsequently broadcast by 40 European tv stations!
