Berlin and Potsdam, 18 October

Logo Radio Day

EBU and PRIX EUROPA had decided to launch a joint day of European Cultural Radio on which radio stations all over the continent would broadcast radio plays, documentaries and cultural contributions from other countries.
On the 12 October 2003, 94 Radio stations with a potential audience of 300 million listeners devoted the whole day of programming to "The Radio Day of European Cultures". The Radio Day was opened by the first ever live satellite transmission of surround sound over the EBU satellite network with the Belgium band "Musique á Neuf".
In the competition 600 entries from 38 countries are represented in eight categories. For the first time the growing Internet is divided into two successful categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction.

PRIX EUROPA has begun being a trademark for good, high quality productions. During the year, the competition office has organised several workshops, conferences and Think-tanks - delivering a service of immense importance to the European broadcasting industry.
