25 Years of PRIX EUROPA: A Nordic Story of Success

The Nordic countries have since the very beginning of PRIX EUROPA played a strong role at the festival. Always present in Berlin with a big number of participants and very successful throughout the years.

An impressive 54 trophies, won in all media and categories, have travelled with their new owners to the North of Europe.

In order to honour the faithfulness and contribution of the Nordic countries’ broadcasting organisations and their programme makers to the festival, PRIX EUROPA will dedicate an evening to these countries. The venue will be the Felleshuset, where the five countries jointly have their Embassies.

The very first PRIX EUROPA winner, the TV documentary “To live by the sea” (Sweden 1987) will be screened just like the great fiction film “Hardly a Butterfly” from Finland, which won the prize in 1998. The Norwegian Broadcasting Company NRK will be represented with its impressive multimedia project “Hurtigruten”, Iceland with a trans-Nordic online presentation by their jury members in this category. Kristian Stokholm of Danmarks Radio, Coordinator of the Online category, will share his thoughts on the future of the internet for public broadcasters. And last - but not least: Turku, the European Capital of Culture 2011 will also be visible on this Nordic night.

A reception with fingerfood and beverages will round off this very diverse and certainly entertaining evening.
