Meet the STASI!

Special Tour for PRIX EUROPA Participants

Take the chance to walk through an ingeniously designed mobile radio format and experience the authentic spots of surveillance, denunciations and betrayal in person.

The former East German Secret Police (STASI) connects with you via the miles of their archived reports.

RADIOORTUNG – Hörspiele für Selbstläufer
A new site-specific mobile phone-radio format, developed by the radio drama department of DEUTSCHLANDRADIO KULTUR.

Participants of PRIX EUROPA have the opportunity to visit the walk-in STASI radio play created by the theatre-collective “Rimini Protokoll”. The listeners walk through public spaces with their mobile phones and the city of Berlin and uncovers hidden stories.
The audio project uses the STASI files of about a hundred people who were shadowed in Berlin’s centre and reconstructs the observations exactly at the sites where the deeds were perpetrated.
The radio play is performed in German, but this format is enjoyable beyond language barriers. The initially uninvolved observer becomes an active player in this net of persecution.

On Monday, 24 October at 8.50, Katrin Moll will explain the whole concept during one of the "BREAKFAST WITH..." Sessions. Join her here to prepare yourself for this remarkable project.
